ELGIN TOWN HALL

Elgin City Councilwoman for Ward 1 Joy Casnovsky and Elgin resident Corbett Jones, in partnership with Public Citizen, hosted a town hall for residents of Bastrop County to discuss Darling Ingredients on Sept 24th, 2025.

Over 80 Bastrop County residents attended the town hall alongside additional Elgin council members Arthur Gibson, Tiffany St. Pierre, Bastrop County Commissioner David Glass and several Bastrop County health officials. Public Citizen TCEQ Campaign Director, Kathryn Guerra, provided updates regarding the latest enforcement actions against Darling Ingredients and led residents through the TCEQ complaint system.

Several residents shared their personal stories of living with Darling Ingredients pollution on a daily basis and provided additional ideas for how to stop the stink.
